If your van has a water system, you should only fill your water tank using a potable water hose. What is a “Potable water hose”? Potable water hose’s are made of food-safe ingredients, such as UV-stabilized materials which are lead-free and BPA-free. You should never use a garden hose to fill your van’s water tank since garden hoses aren’t manufactured to deliver safe drinking water. In addition to bacteria and mold, the water from a garden hose typically contains toxic chemicals like lead, BPA, and plasticizers.
You can find several potable water hoses on the internet and at RV stores. Simply store the hose in your van so it’s accessible on road trips!
