From the van’s name, this 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144 was built for an avid cyclist. When they’re training with long-distance road rides for off-grid gravel grinding races, Chainring is the perfect setup for hauling gear, sleep and recovery, and refueling spent calories.

Chainring’s 38″ galley kitchen includes overhead cabinetry, a glass top and fold-down faucet sink, and a pull-out butcher block countertop extension for more usable space. This block sits above the Isotherm 4.6 cu. Ft. stainless steel refrigerator and slides toward the driver seat. The induction stove hides away in a wide and deep drawer. A 20-gallon freshwater system provides water to the galley sink and rear exterior shower. Heat and hot water on-demand come from the Webasto Dual Top Diesel Hydronic Heat system. After dinner, hop up on Chainring’s raised 3-panel bed when it’s time to rest. These panels are stackable and removable. The forwardmost panel hinges forward to create a seated backrest. Below the backrest, relax on the leather upholstered bench seat!

When it’s time to store the bikes and hit the road, the garage area has ample Mac’s VersaTie Track, hooks and rings, and bike fork mounts. Toss gear and lose equipment in the upper or lower rear stuff stacks! Chainring serves up high-output AGM batteries and a Magnum 1000W inverter with a built-in high-efficiency charger, transfer switch, and remote panel for extended off-grid adventures. Keep electronic toys fully charged thanks to the (3) 110V outlets and (1) dual USB charging port.
