Echidna

Echidnas, sometimes known as spiny anteaters, are quill-covered monotremes belonging to the family Tachyglossidae.

Inspired by this family’s travels in the Australian Outback, Echidna is a sturdy 2022 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144 ready for off-grid exploration. This family of three, plus their dog and a friend, can enjoy all the comforts when traveling locally or for international adventures.

Utilizing Echidna as a wintertime basecamp for ski race training, this family plans to roll out of bed already parked in the front row at the mountain (conveniently in a standard parking space) and share a warm breakfast before runs begin. Echidna’s 40” galley kitchen includes an overhead microwave, lots of overhead storage, an Isotherm refrigerator, an upgraded sink and faucet with a drop-in dual cutting board sink cover, and a heavy-duty hinge flip-up table. When it’s time to rest and relax, two people can quickly spread out on the 2-panel raised bed with flares on either side. These flares bump out for additional inches of sleeping space. Below the bed, a custom 80” long bench is perfect for an extra person or pet. Outfitted with two separate flip-up sections creates a different 33” comprehensive sleeping platform.

Plug electronics into the (4) 110V and (4) USB/USB-C outlets. Echidna runs on a 630Ah lithium-ion system with a 2000W magnum inverter and a 280XP secondary alternator. A rooftop solar panel supplies an additional trickle charge, just in case. Hauling lots of gear is simple! We’ve installed a side utility ladder with an additional rack for carrying surf and SUP boards. Next to the rear door ladder is Owl Vans – B2 Bike Carrier and a large expedition box. Traveling to remote locations over uncertain terrain, Echidna sports an Agile Off-Road RIP Kit, Agile’s “No Rub” Front Tire Fender, 17” Warlord wheels from Black Rhino, and beefy BFGoodrich K02 tires.
