We say this often, and we mean it. OBI, a 2022 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170, was built for a couple who love to spend their free time in the great outdoors. They’ll use their van for biking, hiking, and festival adventures! The Outward Bound program played a significant role in this couple’s journey, and they’ll continue to embrace their love of experiential education and outdoorsmanship in their van.

With custom flares installed in the rear quarter panels, the extended sleeping space offers maximum rest on the 2-panel bed. Below, when a hidden panel is spread across the galley aisle, the dinette benches create additional sleeping space. The medium-sized kitchen galley includes an induction stove, an Isotherm refrigerator, storage drawers, an overhead microwave, and a premium Kohler under mount bar sink and faucet. Adding their personality to OBI, the Isotherm refrigerator is nestled in the slider door, with a dropdown table providing outdoor dining convenience under a Fiamma awning. Rolef bug screens in the slider and back door allow for ventilation and fresh air while limiting the outdoors from coming inside. OBI includes a 25-gallon freshwater tank feeding to the galley sink and exterior shower.

Powering OBI for extended periods of off-grid exploration are 630Ah of lithium-ion batteries that work in tandem with a 2000W magnum inverter, 280XP Wakespeed secondary alternator, and 140W rooftop solar panel. A side and rear ladder create external storage solutions for bikes with a close connection to the ARB air compressor. OBI is outfitted with an Agile “No Rub” Front Tire Fender, Agile Ride Improvement Package, 17” Warlord wheels from Black Rhino, and (5) BFGoodrich K02 tires. The spare tire is kept nestled below, just in case.
