“You gotta take it with you when you’re going forward. If you’re moving on you’ve got to leave it behind.” Phish, Wombat

Another build is in the books for our friends at Bearfoot Theory. If you weren’t able to join us at Open Roads for the debut of this Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 170, you’ve come to the right place! With seating for three, sleeping for two on our 3-panel bed system, an extensive galley, and plenty of storage solutions, this rig is easily one of the favorites we’ve built all year.

Showcasing a kitchen nestled within the slider door, easy outside entertaining is possible with a hidden pullout prep table. Deploy both Rolef garage and slider door screens for serious bug protection and enjoy the extended Fiamma awning offering maximum shade. Inside Wombat, the galley kitchen features an upgraded rectangular deep under mount sink and countertop mounted faucet with pull down sprayer. Keeping everything tidy is easy with recycling and trash bins tucked into a cabinet built into center of galley! Another unique element of Wombat is its floor to ceiling closet that with four internal shelves, a wide pull-out step to get in and out of bed, and lower housing unit for a future cassette toilet.

Wombats are typically nocturnal which isn’t an issue for this Wombat! A complete power system includes 630Ah lithium batteries, 2000W Magnum Inverter, Ion Gauge Display, and 280XP Wakespeed Regulator. Multiple 110V outlets and USB-C/USB ports are strategically placed throughout the build. Wombat features a full set of sunshades, 28-gallon freshwater tank, Webasto Air Top EVO 40 Diesel Heating System, Espar Hydronic Diesel Water Heating System, and two Maxxair 10 Speed Deluxe vents. Last, but certainly not least, don’t miss the gear glider in the garage. With a total storage space of 60×18, our gear glider is a perfect spot for bikes, tools, and other essential items you want to stow away and slide out with ease.
