Clean Your Sileather
Sileather is a performance leather used on the walls and ceiling of some of our custom vans. This 100% silicone material is a superb combination of leather texture and the superior advantages of silicone. It’s eco-friendly, sustainable, weatherproof, highly durable, and best of all, easy to clean!

Sileather is inherently stain resistant thanks to its proprietary silicone formula. Its silicone coating has very low surface tension and small molecular gaps, which stains are unable to penetrate.
Let’s review the recommended way to clean lighter stains:
- Use a soft cloth to remove as much of the stain as possible.
- Apply clean or soapy water to the stain with a soft cloth or sponge, and gently wipe until the stain disappears. It’s recommended to use water only to clean loose dirt, dust, and footprints as well as more stubborn stains like ketchup, grape juice, orange juice, red wine, coffee, and mustard. It’s recommended to use a mixture of detergent and water to clean sunscreen, mascara, soy sauce, ballpoint pen ink, and permanent marker
- Wipe with a clean damp cloth and let air dry. Residue left by cleaners may shorten the service life and affect the appearance of the product and should be removed as soon as possible.
Now let’s review the recommended way to clean tougher stains, like lipstick, permanent markers, pen, or denim dye:
- Remove the excess stain with a clean cloth.
- Take a damp cloth or sponge, wipe with moderate amounts of 90% isopropyl alcohol or 95% ethyl alcohol. Wipe dry and repeat if necessary.
- Wipe with a clean damp cloth and let air dry. Residue left by cleaners may shorten the service life and affect the appearance of the product and should be removed as soon as possible.
For sanitization purposes Sileather can also be sanitized using a solution of 1 part bleach to 4 parts water.
Here are some more helpful tips to remember when cleaning Sileather:
- Test any cleaning method or agent in a small, hidden area before use.
- Clean stains immediately, and at least within 24 hours.
- Use a clean, soft cloth or sponge.
- Avoid the use of rough and scratchy cleaning tools.
- Alcohol and alcohol-based cleaners are combustible. Please handle with car. Use only a small amount of detergent to avoid any source of ignition. Wear protective gloves and be sure to clean in a well-ventilated area.
